Thanks to all the volunteers who came out to assist with our planting events! We completed two of the three scheduled events (the June 28 event was cancelled due to the potential for lightning storms).

A new wood and cement bench with cedar chips and freshly planted seedlings next to the fenced garden area.

Neighbors may have noticed that Fletcher’s bench has now been installed, complete with commemorative plaque. There are cedar chip paths on either side of the bench for people to walk on, as well as a series of butterfly-friendly plants behind and in front of the bench.

The garden is thriving – we’re already seeing some of the pictured plants start to bloom! Much of that can be attributed to our great neighborhood volunteers, Steve and George, who have been watering portions of the garden this summer to make sure the plants get a strong first year under their belts.

Big thanks to Aaron and Gen (above) who pitched in on the June 20 planting day where we did weeding, planting, mulching, and more.

Next Up…

Our next events will be the August Bio Blitz (following up on the success of our June Bio Blitz), and then our three fall Buckthorn Busts. If you’d like to join in the fun, sign up to become a member of the Grass Lake Restoration Team to be the first to hear about these events.
