The Environmental Committee has launched the Grass Lake Restoration Team based on the success of our three Buckthorn Bust events this past fall 2025. Would you like to join in the fun? The sign-up form features four ways to get involved:
- Buckthorn Busts (Working in small groups to cut, haul, and apply water-safe herbicide to buckthorn around the shores of Grass Lake. These events take place in the fall when buckthorn is most visible against other vegetation.)
- Garden Tending (Activities like planting, weeding, and winter-sowing plants for the native plant gardens, including the new southeast garden and “Bob’s Garden” on the north end.)
- iNaturalist (Documenting plants and wildlife around the shores of Grass Lake using the iNaturalist app, either as an individual or at group events like a BioBlitz)
- Stay Informed (Not sure if you’d like to participate, but you’d like to receive information about the work unfolding on the shores of Grass Lake. We’ll aim for a quarterly email update.)
We’ve also placed some signs around the shores of Grass Lake with a QR code to sign up for the Grass Lake Restoration Team (pictured below).
