The Grass Lake Restoration Team is planning 3 events to support the new garden on the southeast shore of Grass Lake this spring (look for the white yard signs marking the location). Please mark your calendars and bring a friend!
- Saturday, May 2, 1:00-3:00pm — Fencing installation. The work this day will involve volunteers working in pairs or small groups to measure and place metal garden stakes, as well as unrolling and trimming machine-cloth (wire) fencing. If you can bring gloves and wire snips, that will be helpful!
- Saturday, May 16, 1:00-3:00pm — Planting Session 1. The work this day will involve planting the seedlings we have on hand. We have ordered seedlings + any winter sowing results that may be ready. If you can, please bring gloves, a spade or garden knife, and/or a bulb/garden auger with battery-powered hand drill, and watering can/1 gallon jugs of water. If you like to use a kneeling pad or collapsible stool, bring that too!
- Saturday, May 23, 1:00-3:00pm — Planting Session 2. The work this day will involve planting the seedlings we have on hand. We have ordered seedlings + any winter sowing results that may be ready. If you can, please bring gloves, a spade or garden knife, and/or a bulb/garden auger with battery-powered hand drill, and a watering can/1 gallon jugs of water. If you like to use a kneeling pad or collapsible stool, bring that too!
As we prepare for these events, we’d like to learn more about what volunteers might be able to share (gloves, garden spades, etc.), so we can figure out what we still need to purchase. Please fill out this form, and it will help us with supply-purchases, and for scheduling a June session.
